Abstract:
Transport infrastructure is a gauge for economic growth and balanced development in this area can pave the way for sustainable progress. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of shippings function components on national competitiveness. The case study of Iran is chosen as a developing country which is a transit hub that connects Turkey, Russia, China, the Caucasus and acts as a transit route for the goods destined in Afghanistan, Iraq and Azerbaijan. For this purpose, the relationship between the secondary data of the World Bank shippings performance indicators and the global competitiveness of the World Economic Forum has been evaluated using multivariate panel regression. A non-random statistical sample was selected from the panel data of Global Competitiveness Report (GCI) indices and (Shipping Performance Indicator (LPI) components in the countries evaluated in the annual reports of the two institutes in ۲۰۱۶, ۲۰۱۸ and ۲۰۲۰. Data were analysed using version ۶ of EVIEWS software and panel data models. The findings show that there is a positive and significant impact between the indicators of transportation, customs and infrastructure and global competitiveness of countries.
