Ebria tripartita (Schumann) Lemmermann, ۱۸۹۹, a non-photosynthetic flagellate was identified from the southern coast of the Caspian Sea in December ۲۰۱۲. Water temperature at the sampling time was ۱۰ ºC.  The abundance of total phytoplankton cells was ۳ × ۱۰۶ Cells.l-۱, while E. tripartita with ۲ × ۱۰ ۳ Cells. l-۱ included ۰.۷۵% of phytoplankton community. Water quality parameters were recorded when species was observed. The average concentration of nitrate, phosphate and silicate were ۰.۷, ۰.۱ and ۱.۸ mg.l-۱ respectively.
