Abstract:

The rapid integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the workplace has raised significant questions regarding its impact on employee perceptions and organizational dynamics. This study aims to explore how employees perceive the use of AI in workplace decision-making processes, focusing on their reactions, the effectiveness of AI systems, and the organizational impacts stemming from AI integration. This qualitative study utilized semi-structured interviews to collect data from ۳۵ participants across various industries. Participants were selected using purposive sampling to ensure a diverse range of insights. The interviews focused on experiences with AI, its perceived effectiveness, and its impact on their professional lives. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to achieve theoretical saturation, identifying main themes and sub-themes in the process. Three main themes emerged from the data: AI Effectiveness, Employee Reactions, and Organizational Impact. AI Effectiveness encompassed sub-themes such as Technical Performance, Decision Support, and Cost Efficiency, highlighting the practical benefits and challenges of AI. Employee Reactions included Trust in AI, Resistance to AI, and Emotional Impact, illustrating varied emotional and psychological responses. Organizational Impact covered changes in Workplace Dynamics and Policy and Regulation, reflecting AI's broader implications on organizational structures and processes. The study concludes that while AI can enhance operational efficiency and decision-making, its integration must be managed carefully to address the diverse and complex reactions from employees. Organizations are encouraged to foster transparent communication and ethical practices to mitigate fears and enhance the acceptance of AI. Training and adaptation support are also crucial to maximize AI’s potential benefits while minimizing disruptions and resistance. The rapid integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the workplace has raised significant questions regarding its impact on employee perceptions and organizational dynamics.
