Abstract:
TiO۲ nanoparticles were synthesized using electrochemical anodization method employing the electrooxidationof a thin titanium wire in an aqueous solution of ۱M potassium chloride (KCl) in anelectrochemical cell. KCl solution acts as a supporting electrolyte and electrostatic stabilizer. The appliedvoltage, current, electrolyte concentration, electrolyte temperature and annealing temperature are importantparameters that affect the morphology and structural properties of the created nanoparticles. The sampleswere analyzed and characterized using XRD, SEM, EDX and DLS techniques. The XRD results confirmedthe phase transition to anatase under the annealing temperature of ۳۵۰°C. SEM images showed that thenanoparticles were formed in a spherical shape in below ۵۰ nm dimensions. EDX analysis showed thepresence of Ti and O elements thus further confirming the successful synthesis. The zeta potential was foundto be ۴۸.۳ mV. So, the cost effective and green method developed here can be used for the synthesis ofnanoparticles for real applications.
