Abstract:

Application of chemometric methods, like response surface methodology (RSM), for designing the experiments is growing rapidly in different science such as chemical engineering, analytical chemistry and environmental chemistry. In this study, application of response surface methodology for Cr (VI) removal from aqueous solutions by the use of biodegradable chitosan polymer has been studied. Minitab 14 software was used for designing the experiments and investigating the influence of effective parameters on the reaction. The model have a good correlation coefficient (R2=0.95) and optimum condition of the Cr (VI) removal process for chitosan concentration, initial concentration of Cr (VI), pH and reaction time were achieved 2200 mg/L, 10 mg/L, 4 and 120 min, respectively. Investigations and results show that response surface methodology with central composite design is an efficient method for experiment designing and optimizing Cr (VI) removal reaction by chitosan polymer
