Transient stability of power system with high penetration of SCIG based wind farm and investigation of mechanical parameter impact

in this paper, transient stability of power systems with high penetration of wind farms of the squirrel cage induction generator (SCIG) type is discussed and the transient stability comparison between traditional system and the system connected to a large wind power farm is briefly presented. As we know, SCIG has not convertor and directly connect to grid. Therefore there is not strong control for this type of wind generator and mechanical parameters of turbine have significant impact in stability studies. Main part of this paper deals with impact of mechanical parameters of SCIG consist of wind turbine inertia constant and shaft stiffness coefficient on transient stability. Transient stability analysis is done while we have fault in grid.
