Abstract:
As a clean energy resource, wind power continues to grow in power system to solve the environmental issues and reduce the use of fossil fuel generation. The most importantchallenge facing the wind power is the intermittence nature of this resource. Hence the prediction of wind power alwayscontains errors that in some cases this prediction error is high enough to affect the system operation scheduling. This paper presents a model for the best participation of wind power producer (WPP) in electricity market. Uncertainty pertaining to wind availability is properly taken into account. Demandresponse resources are considered as environmentally and economically option that WPP can cover its own prediction error using these resources in a competitive electricity market. Theproposed method, which is in the nonlinear programming format, determines the amount of power that WPP should buy from both wholesale market and demand response resources in order to minimize its costs. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach in minimizing WPPs costs.
