Abstract:
Schiff base ligand 2-(2-hydroxy-5-(phenyldiazenyl)benzylideneamino)acetic acid (H(2)L) is prepared by condensation of 2-Hydroxy-5-(phenyldiazenyl)benzaldehyde with Glycine. The characterization of the ligand is based on elemental analysis and IR spectra. The reaction of H2L and 2,2'-Bipyridine with Cu(OAc)(2). H(2)O in methanoland water [Cu(2,2'-bipy)(L)] complex have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR and x-ray difraction. Direct calcination of the compound [Cu(2,2'-bipy)(L)] at 600 °C under air atmospheres yield different morphologies of nano-sized CuO. The nano-materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and IR spectroscopy.
