One-pot synthesis of ethyl-2-amino-4,5-diphenyl-furan-3-carboxylate

In this study substituted heteroaromatic amines were synthesized by a cyclisation reaction achieved by means a special base catalysed cyclisation reaction, using α-hydroxy ketone and active methylene compounds.The Knoevenagel reactions of aldehydes and ketones have been investigated by numerous workers, little is known about the reactions involving acyloins and benzoins We now report an efficient synthetic route to polysubstituted furans using Benzoin and active methylene compounds in the presence of ammonium acetate. This procedure offers significant advantages such as operational simplicity, mild reaction conditions, enhanced rates, ease of isolation of products, cleaner reaction profiles and eco-friendly nature of the solvent, which makes it useful and attractive strategy for the synthesis of 2-aminofuran derivatives
