For the first time, a simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method for determination of methimazole was developed utilizing citrate modified silver nono particles(AgNPS). In this Study, we demonstrated a new concept of methimazole detection by achieving a silver nanoprobe-based spectrophotometric system.The adsorption of methimazole on the Surface of AgNPS displaced the stabilizing Citrate ions and neutralized surface charges. The loss of surface charges induced aggregation of AgNps, which could be observed by the naked eye. The determination of methimazole could be realized within 2 min, with an ultralow detection limit of 0.8nM by the adsorption method.
