Abstract:
Recurrence plot (RP) and recurrence quantification analysis (RQA), as powerful statistical techniques, havebeen used for studying the dynamic behavior of gassolids fluidized beds. In this article, RQA variables(namely recurrence rate, determinism, laminarity and entropy) were calculated for the bubbling fluidized bedat different superficial gas velocities and aspect ratios. The results showed that the RQA parameters can beused to study of the bed hydrodynamics significantly. Patterns within RP were classified into two groups ofwhite areas, showing macro structures, and bold areas, showing messo and micro structures. These areaschanged with conditions (different aspect ratios and different superficial gas velocities), and subsequentlyRQA parameters changed too. These changes can be potentially useful for study of the bed hydrodynamicand online monitoring of bed behavior. It was shown that transition from bubbling to turbulent velocity canbe determined from the variation of recurrence rate and entropy. The results of this study allow the deepunderstanding the fluidized bed hydrodynamics which can then be used for scale up.
