Similarity measures are used to measure the grade of similarity between any two fuzzy sets. We review several existing similarity measures and discusson goodness or badness of a similarity measure. We also review similarity measures between elements in fuzzy sets. We propose a new method to measure thegrade of similarity between elements in fuzzy sets, that may be considered as a criterion of goodness or badness of a similarity measure
