Abstract:
Perovskite solar cells have emerged as a promising alternative to traditional silicon-based photovoltaic technology, offering higher efficiency, lower production costs, and versatility in fabrication. Their crystalline structure, mimicking that of the mineral perovskite, enables efficient light absorption and charge carrier transport. In the space industry, perovskite solar cells hold significant relevance due to their potential to revolutionize spacecraft power systems. Their lightweight and flexible nature make them ideal for space applications, where every gram counts, and their high power-to-weight ratio could extend the capabilities of small satellites and spacecraft, enabling longer missions and enhanced scientific exploration beyond Earth's orbit. Moreover, their tolerance to a wide range of temperatures and radiation levels further enhances their suitability for space missions, making perovskite solar cells a promising contender in advancing space exploration endeavors(۱,۲).
