Abstract:
In this study, adsorption of neurological drug, Alprazolam, by multi-walled carbon nanotube(MWCNT) at ۳۰۳, ۳۰۸ and ۳۱۸ K was studied by employing the Freundlich, Temkin and Langmuirmodels. A stock solution with concentration of ۱۰۰ ppm of drug was used in preparing othersolutions.More than ۱۰۰ ppm solutions were prepared to prepare different concentrations and theadsorption amount was obtained before and after the adsorbent effect. According to the results ofthis study, an increase in concentration of solute increases its adsorption by adsorbent. Also, analysisadsorption data by the Freundlich, Langmuir and Temkin models showed that adsorption ofAlprazolam on MWCNT obeys the Langmuir model. The thermodynamic parameters, including theGibbs free energy change (ΔG), enthalpy change (ΔH) and entropy change (ΔS), were calculated. Itwas indicated that the numerical values of ΔH, ΔG and ΔS were all negative and the adsorption ofAlprazolam on MWCNT was spontaneous and exothermic
