Abstract:

Abstract—Direct sequence-code division multiple access (DSCDMA)technique is used in cellular systems where users inthe cell are separated from each other with their uniquespreading codes. These systems suffer from multiple accessinterference (MAI) due to other users transmitting in the cell,channel inter symbol interference (ISI) due to multipathnature of channels in presence of additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN). This paper presents an investigation on use of new type ofDSCDMA receiver called Genetic Algorithm based DS-CDMAreceiver. Genetic Algorithm is robust optimization techniqueand does not fall into local minima, hence this gives betterweight optimization of any system.Extensive simulation studies demonstrate the performance ofthe different linear and nonlinear DS-CDMA receivers likeRAKE receiver, matched filter (MF) receiver, minimum meansquare error (MMSE) receiver using gold sequences and theperformance has been compared with GA based receiver. It isseen that GA based DS-CDMA receiver performs much betterthan other type of receivers.
