Introduction: Health promoting behaviors are of the main factors determining health which have been recognized as a key factor in preventing diseases and potential lifestyle modification can prevent many non-contagious diseases. This study aimed to investigate the health promoting behaviors in the areas of stress management and interpersonal relationships among high school students.Materials and methods:This cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study was conducted on ۸۰۰ male and female high school students of Sabzevar- Iran during the academic year ۲۰۱۹ and ۲۰۲۰. Data collection was conducted using two-part questionnaire including demographic data and health promoting behaviors. Data was analyzed using Chi-square and Mann Whitney U tests in the STATA version ۱۲.۰.Results:The mean score of interpersonal relationships among females and males was ۲۶.۳۸±۵.۱۱ and ۲۵.۱۳±۵.۳۱,(P=۰.۰۲۴), and the mean score of stress management was ۱۴.۴۳±۳.۱۹ in males and ۱۴.۰۵±۴.۰۳ in females (P=۰۰.۱). A significant relationship between gender (P=۰.۰۱۱), fathers' education (P=۰.۰۲۷), students' grade (P=۰.۰۳۷), interpersonal relationships and gender (P=۰.۰۳۳), and stress management.Conclusion:Planning in order to improve health promoting behaviors in the areas of interpersonal relationships and stress management among high school students is essential. Because stress management along with social relationships are the capabilities that prepare the person for the effective participation in the community.
