Social discourse on gender, alongside the advancements in biology, has strived to encompass a wider range of gender identities through repeated redefinitions. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically revisit what has transpired and is transpiring in this realm. Hence, our question is how have social linguists delved into the study of the phenomenon of gender? In this concise paper, we endeavored to trace the footprints of transformations by employing a review-analytical approach to the discourse corpus of social linguistics and gender studies scholars. As a result, it was observed that linguists often fail to align their perspectives with the evolving insights of biological studies and continue to cling to their out dated assumptions.Additionally, the absence of an optimal and structured the oretical framework has hindered the adequate and appropriate explanation of the phenomenon of gender in language.
