Abstract:
The design and performance optimization of the Pulse Transformers (PT) and Magnetic Switches (MS) are important to obtain a high voltage output, low rise time and pulse width, when choosing the suitable High Voltage Pulse Generator (HVPG) topology in Magnetic Pulse Compression (MPC) method. In this article, a compact nanosecond HVPG with MPC system is designed and constructed to generate repetitive pulses with a maximum magnitude of ۶۲ KV, rise time of ۸ ns and pulse width of ۱۲ ns. This compact and convenient generator has been employed successfully to produce stable Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD). HVPG voltage variant of the generator can drive DBDs without significantly changing the output waveform, during non-thermal plasma production. Moreover, the generator has been experimentally tested with real plasma load including DBD-like low-pressure tube discharges.
