Abstract:
Up to now, seismic behavior of concrete structures has studied with experimental methods in laboratories and in numerical forms with uncoupled analytical and approximate relations. However, there is a need for coupled and numerical analysis of soil-structure for suitable investigating of seismic behavior of structure. In coupled analysis, because of considering soil-structure interaction effects and soil boundary conditions as a semi-infinite medium, results have well accordance with experimental results. One of the new materials which are used in strengthening concrete structures against loads is GFRP. In this paper, seismic behavior of reinforced concrete walls which strengthened with this material is studied as coupled with soil by FEM software ABAQUS and experimental studies are used for model verification. Results show significant reduction of deformation and increase in strength of reinforced concrete wall which strengthened with GFRP under seismic load.
