Abstract:

In this research, as a case study, soil stabilization by jet grouting method has been investigated inincreasing the bearing capacity and reducing the liquefaction potential in a project which is located inthe northwest of Iran. The results of field studies showed that adjusting the injection rod's rising speedto ۳۵ mm and the grout injection time to eight seconds, creates jet grouting columns with a diameter ofabout ۹۰۰ mm. Also, the penetration of the cement slurry in the middle of the sand layer is equal to۲۷۰۰ mm (about three times the radius of influence in the clay layer). The results of numericalmodeling depict that due to the application of structural loads, the amount of settlement created wasestimated to be more than the allowable settlement (۱۳۴.۲ mm). By using the high-pressure injectionstabilization method, the total foundation settlement is reduced to the allowable value of ۳۷.۸ mm. Theresults of this research can be used by other researchers to increase the bearing capacity andliquefaction mitigation in this area.
