Abstract:

The escalating frequency and intensity of disasters pose formidable challenges to urbansustainability, necessitating proactive measures to mitigate their adverse impacts. This abstract delvesinto the imperative of bolstering cities' resilience and sustainability frameworks to effectively contendwith disasters. The paper have tried to identify the most important criteria that can effect directly on therisk especially during disasters natural hazards to reduce the damage and loss to people and assets. Inthis way, we have selected Rome as one of the historical cities to find the most important problems inthe urban areas which are related to sustainability of cities exposed to the risk and present the efficientsolutions. Furthermore, fostering collaboration among governments, businesses, and people, isindispensable for orchestrating cohesive disaster preparedness and recovery initiatives. At the end,strategies concerning socio-economic, environmental, and physical issues have been presented whichare useful for historical cities exposed to risks.
