Abstract:
This review paper highlights the pharmacological and biological characteristics of Rosa canina (rose hip) extract and investigates its potential anti-ageing benefits when applied topically. Rose hip extract has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties because it is rich in bioactive substances like vitamin C, carotenoids, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), and phenolic compounds [۱]. These characteristics reduce the appearance of obvious ageing indicators by promoting collagen production, scavenging free radicals, and maintaining skin integrity [۱]. The molecular mechanisms by which rose hip extract improves skin health are highlighted in this paper. These mechanisms include stabilizing cell membranes, lowering inflammation, and halting the degradation of collagen [۱, ۲]. Furthermore, pharmacological research indicates that rose hip extract enhances skin conditions and promotes wound healing, which supports its usage in anti-ageing skincare products [۳, ۴]. Although it has promising potential, the research points out limitations such as the requirement for extensive clinical trials to confirm its safety and usefulness in people, as well as variations in the phytochemical composition. All things considered, this paper shows the therapeutic value of rose hip extract in dermatology, especially in anti-ageing applications, and makes recommendations for further research to maximize its application
