Abstract:
In this research, we determined the effect of solvent changing in oxidation of benzyl alcohol. Pt(0) nano-particles supported on γ-Alumina is produced byreduction of K2PtCl4 with hydrazine hydrate at 25 °C. Reactions show that this catalyst has a good effect on oxidation and changing the solventcould help the catalyst to act better to increase the yield of oxidation. High selectivity of oxidation to just the benzaldehyde is obtained from thereaction. The Pt/Al2O3 catalyst can be recycled several times without significant loss of activity. The XRD analysis showed an average particlesize of 25 nm for nano-platinum in Pt/Al2O3 catalyst. The desire for developing cleaner processes has led to research in catalytic selective oxidationusing molecular oxygen, so we used O2 in all experiments as the oxidant.
