Abstract:
In this article, a new colorimetric sensor based on bromopyrogallol red (BPR) and Fe۲+ was developed forthe selective detection of citrate. Citrate is one of the most widely used tricarboxylic acids in food and thepharmaceutical industry and its identification is very important. In this study, the BPR-Fe complexshowed a clear color change from pale pink to pink in the presence of citrate, and a significant changewas observed in its UV-Vis absorption spectrum. The stoichiometric ratio of ۱:۱ between BPR and Fe۲+was determined using Bensi-Hildebrand method
