Abstract:
High-complexity laboratories are critical to healthcare, diagnostics, and research, where ensuring accuracy, reliability, and efficiency is paramount. However, traditional methods for workflow management and quality assurance (QA) often fall short in addressing the challenges posed by increasing sample volumes, complex testing procedures, and stringent regulatory requirements. Automation technologies have emerged as transformative tools that streamline laboratory workflows, reduce human error, and enhance overall performance. This study explores the application of automation technologies, including robotic systems, high-throughput analyzers, and automated data processing tools, in optimizing workflows and improving QA in high-complexity laboratory settings. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, incorporating case studies, simulated laboratory workflows, and expert interviews to assess the impact of automation on QA metrics such as error reduction, turnaround times, and compliance with standards like ISO ۱۵۱۸۹. Findings reveal that robotic systems reduced manual errors by up to ۴۰%, while high-throughput analyzers improved sample processing speeds by as much as ۵۰%. Automated data management tools enhanced data integrity, providing laboratories with a more consistent and reliable framework for handling complex datasets. These improvements highlight automation's ability to increase efficiency and accuracy across various laboratory tasks. Despite the benefits, challenges such as high implementation costs, interoperability with legacy systems, and workforce resistance were identified as significant barriers. Addressing these challenges requires strategic planning, investment in scalable solutions, and comprehensive training programs for laboratory personnel. The study concludes that automation technologies are essential for laboratories to meet the growing demands of modern operations, and their integration offers a path to sustainable and efficient QA practices. Recommendations are provided for laboratories to adopt automation technologies effectively, emphasizing the importance of tailored solutions to meet diverse operational needs.
