Abstract:

The medical field is undergoing transformation with the integration of electronic health records (EHRs) and wearable health technology. This convergence presents new opportunities for data-driven decision-making and improved patient care. The increasing adoption of wearable devices by patients and healthcare providers underscores the importance of understanding how this integration impacts healthcare systems. This scoping review explores the existing landscape of integrating wearable health technology into EHRs, with an emphasis on data analytics and decision-making within medical secretarial and records management. A comprehensive search of online databases and Internet resources was conducted to identify key challenges and opportunities related to incorporating patient data from wearable devices into healthcare systems.According to the present study, wearable technology has great potential for controlling long-term illnesses and enhancing patient outcomes. However, challenges such as data privacy concerns, interoperability issues, and the complexities of data management must be addressed to ensure the widespread adoption of wearable health technology in clinical settings. The study highlights the significance of security measures, compliance with regulations like HIPAA, and the creation of transparent consent practices to safeguard patient confidentiality. For wearable health technology to realize its full potential in enhancing patient care and decision-making, healthcare systems must prioritize data security, interoperability, and patient privacy. Collaborative efforts between app developers, healthcare providers, and regulatory bodies are essential to overcome existing challenges and facilitate the seamless integration of wearable device data into EHRs.
