A reflective study on the UIPs for entrepreneurship taking the viewpoints of university social responsibilities and economic development

Abstract:

In the retrospect of human civilization history, universities are relied on to create, transfer, and utilize knowledge for social development, community prosperity, and technological revolution. To further fulfill these missions, universities in developed countries, since the last two decades, have established incubation programs to integrate various resources from academic institutions and entrepreneurs, and learners’ demands. University incubation programs consequently (functions of UIPS) facilitate university education quality, improve employment, and foster economic growth with reciprocity. This study, taking literature review and documentary analysis approaches, purported to comprehensively identify the UIPs in developed countries, such as Canada, Taiwan, Singapore, and the United States of America, typically investigate the major missions, service items, and cooperative administration among their related stockholders. Some constructive suggestions are finally provided to Iranian universities which have manifestly contributed to the academic development and human civilization since centuries ago. After repeatedly studying and validating through literacies and experts discussion, UIPs are approved to enhance university education with meaningful teaching and studying, research efficacy, and resource integration. those successfully foster technological advancement and economic growth, bridge university with industries, and increase employment rates. Their administration needs mighty leadership with an insightful vision of the realistic world, open mindsets, cross-fielded communication skills, and effective execution. Universities in Iran are consequently suggested to broadly establish UIPs on campus to facilitate university education efficacy through authentic cooperation with industries as well as community resources. Meanwhile, leadership training programs are typically suggested to cultivate UIP administrators with abilities to initiate entrepreneurship programs, empower cross-fielded cooperation between academy and industry, and advance community prosperity. Remodeling academic courses, the major key to educational quality improvement, with realistic demands for entrepreneurs and social upgrades are encouraged in Iranian universities.
