Abstract:

Rehabilitation of companion animals following orthopedic surgery is a critical aspect of veterinary care aimed at ensuring a successful recovery and enhancing the quality of life for pets. This article explores the multifaceted approach to rehabilitation, focusing on physical therapy, pain management, nutritional support, and owner involvement, Physical therapy plays a pivotal role in restoring mobility, strength, and function, employing techniques such as hydrotherapy, therapeutic ultrasound, and laser therapy to promote healing and reduce inflammation. Pain management, encompassing the use of medications like opioids and NSAIDs, is essential for alleviating postoperative discomfort and facilitating recovery, Nutritional support, highlighted by high-quality protein, essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals, contributes significantly to tissue repair and overall health, enhancing the healing process. Owner involvement is crucial for the effective implementation of rehabilitation protocols, ensuring adherence to exercise restrictions, proper medication administration, and providing a supportive environment for the pet, By integrating these key elements, the article underscores the importance of a comprehensive rehabilitation plan in achieving optimal outcomes for companion animals post-orthopedic surgery.
