Abstract:
This paper analyses one of the most important technical issues concerning smart microgrids, namely power losses and voltage deviation minimization by integrating distributed energy resources (DERs) like wind turbines (WT), photovoltaic (PV) systems, energy storage systems (ESS), and electric vehicles (EVs). To tackle these issues, the developed research integrates sophisticated energy management methods including collaborative distributed model predictive control. These methodologies are meant to minimize loss and to provide voltage profile to guarantee the overall technical objective of the smart microgrid. The results show that the proposed system achieves high control performance by incorporating innovative control techniques and energy storage systems to minimize the demand and shift/level fluctuations of DERs. This paper provides strong evidence of operating benefits and resilience enhancements through DERs placement and real-time control according to fluctuating power flows. This work not only enriches the knowledge base about the design and operation of smart microgrids, but will also has broader implications for the shift to sustainable power systems. The results indicate the need for building effective systems resistant to the challenges created by DERs, and thus contributing to the enhanced stability of the energy system.
