A Reduced Complexity QRM-MLD Detector for a 16-QAM MU-MIMO System in LTE

This paper focuses on one of the most modern techniques in MIMO: multiuser-MIMO in 3GPP LTE standard, which enhances the overall system capacity in the Downlink. But, in order to reduce the effect of inter-user-interference, it is necessary to utilize an efficient detection method that however, has a low computational complexity. In this paper, we propose a novel signal detector for MU-MIMO in LTE with 16-QAM, that based on the QRM-MLD algorithm. We will see that the proposed method achieves a similar error performance to that of the conventional QRM-MLD while leads to about 80% reduction in the computational complexity with respect to the conventional method and therefore, it is preferred from hardware implementation point of view.
