A mesoporous aluminum silicate molecular sieve (MASM) with the Si/Al molar ratiosof 25, 50, 100 and 150 was synthesized with aluminum isopropoxide, tetraethylorthosilicate and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide by sol-gel method by using acetylacetone (acac) as chelatingagent. XRD, N 2 sorption, high resolution transmission electron microscopy and 27 Al-NMR, investigation showed that a mesoporous molecular sieves with wormhole framework structure is formed. The synthesized MASM with the Si/Al molar ratio of 25 successfully catalyze the alkylation of phenol with 1-octene at 160 0 C in liquid phase to the monoalkyl substituted productquantitatively.
