Abstract:

This paper has tried to show how motivated students are more successful than unmotivated ones. Firstly , the word motivation was discussed in detail ,and various definitions were presented. Secondly, different types of motivation and their relationship with each other were discussed. Thirdly, factors such as personality variables, attitudes towards social or cultural milieu, and non-linguistic outcomes of the learning experience were discussed . Finally , some recommendations for motivating language learners were enumerated. Results show that language learning is facilitated when learners are highly motivated. Therefore, language teachers are highly recommended to motivate their learners in order to increase their chance of learning a language
