Abstract:
Grid systems performance strongly depends on resource discovery method because inherent characteristics ofgrid environment, such as dynamicity and heterogeneity, make the resource discovery a challenging issue. Although some other aspects of grid environment such as underlying network,bandwidth and organizational policies may affect on the performance of grid systems functionality, but the effects of dynamicity and heterogeneity on resource discovery and subsequently the performance of the whole grid are much more significant. The main approaches of grid resource discovery are classified to centralized/hierarchical, peer-topeer based and agent-based approaches. This paper aimed to provide a concise review of scalable resource discovery approaches in dynamic and heterogeneous grid environments.
