Abstract:

Electrochemical ozone production and degradation of Rhodamine B by generated ozone were investigated in this research. A Ti/ Sn-Sb-Ni electrode was used as anode for the ozone production. Ozone was generated using a laboratory- made electrochemical reactor Pyrex glass comprised of two separated half-cell by nafion 117 membrane. A constant ozone application rate of 192 mg. h-1 was used throughout for degradation of Rhodamin B. Electrolyte type and concentration and applied voltage were evaluated for ozone generation process and four operational parameters such as: initial dye concentration, pH, temperature and ozonation time were evaluated for degradation process. Experimental findings revealed that decolorization efficiency was 99.5% after 30 min ozonation at pH 3.7, temperature 25°C and 8 mg.L-1 of dye concentration as optimum condition.
