Abstract:

Additive manufacturing technology is one of the new methods of manufacturing parts in various industries. One of the applications of additive manufacturing is the manufacture of bio-scaffolds. The aim of the present study is to compare the mechanical properties of scaffolds with different geometries that have similar dimensions and different porosity. In this study, two scaffolds with linear geometries and placement angles of ۰-۹۰ and ۰-۴۵ degrees and one square scaffold were designed and printed. Then, for the scaffold with the highest compressive strength, finite element simulation was performed using ABAQUS software. By performing pressure tests on the printed samples, it was determined that the scaffold with square geometry has the highest compressive strength. The maximum force that can be tolerated for this scaffold in the pressure test is approximately ۵.۷۳ kN. Then, by examining the results of the pressure test and the simulated model for the scaffold with square geometry, it was observed that the results of the experimental test and the simulated model for this scaffold are in good agreement.
