Abstract:

This work presents a simulation for CO2/CH4 separation using BPPOdp - fumed silica nanocompositemembrane. The results showed that incorpoartion of non-permeable nanoparticles caused more flux of gas bysurface adsorption. The diffusion was modeled by Fick’s first equation and for the adsorption phenomenon,Langmuir adsorption isotherm was considered. simulation was studied to solve partial differential equationthat was mentioned in the article. According to the simulation of this article, the flux of carbon dioxide wasmore than methane, because the selectivity of CO2 was more than CH4. Simulation results showed acceptableagreement between measured and predicted CO2 flux as 9.07×10-4 mol/m2.s and 8.88×10-4 mol/m2.s (AREof 2.09%). For CH4 this agreement can be expressed between measured and predicted CH4 flux as 5.95×10-5mol/m2.s and 5.22×10-5 mol/m2.s (ARE of 11.9%) and for CO2/CH4 selectivity can be determined as 15.3and 16.85 (ARE 9.19%).
