Design, Simulation and Fabrication of a Compact Size Wideband Microstrip Band-stop Filter

Design, simulation and fabrication of a compact size wideband microstrip band-stop Filter (MBsF) is presented in this paper. The main important advantages of this proposed MBsF are high rejection level, Low insertion loss in the passband and integrated configuration. RT_DURROID_5880 dielectric substrate with relative permittivity εr=2.21, thickness h=0.508 mm, is used. The radiating patch and the ground plane are on top and bottom of the dielectric substrate respectively, those made of copper material with thickness t=0.035 mm and conductivity σ=5.96e7 s/m. All steps of design and simulation are done by Advanced Design System (ADS) software. In addition, the MBsF prototype has been fabricated to validate the simulation results; and there is a close agreement between the simulated and measured results
