Abstract:
The solution to current educational problems requires a more sophisticated and informed approach, an important part of which is provided by the science of the brain, mind and education (brain-friendly learning). Brain-friendly learning emphasizes how the brain naturally learns and seeks to change the framework based on the actual structure and function of the human brain to create effective education. The purpose of this study is to investigate the academic achievement with the effectiveness of brain-friendly education in mathematics lessons for elementary school students. The study sample consisted of ۶۸ students (girls) who were selected non-randomly and as a convenience sample (۳۵ experimental group and ۳۳ control group). The instrument used was a researcher-made questionnaire in mathematics lessons. In this study, a pre-test-post-test design with a control group was used. First, a pre-test was administered to the subjects, and then the experimental group underwent brain-friendly education for ۴ and a half months, while the control group underwent conventional education in schools. After the post-test period, the academic achievement of all students was taken. Independent t-test was used to analyze the statistical data, and the results of the test showed that brain-friendly education had a significant effect on students' academic achievement in mathematics.
