Abstract:

In this paper, we focus on the characterization of permeability within a core of Menerbes limestone. The leading idea is to apply a methodology, which has been developed to characerise permeability within reservoirs from production data. In the studied case, several CT-scan measurements were performed. Consequently the available date are a fine 3D porosity map and 27 fine saturation maps collected during a tracer experiment. The matching methodology that we propose takes advantage of all these date to determine a fine 3E permeability map. To do so, we essentially take two distinct parameters which govern the relationship between permeability and porosity. During the matching, we attempt to minimize an objective function which measures the mismatch between the scanned concentration maps and the simulation concentration ones. Our results point out a 70% decrease of the objective function value. To improve the matching, the parameterization has to be refined in order to better capture helerogeneity.
