Disproportionate rosin ( DPR ) is a mixture of rosin acids with Dehydro Abietic Acid ( DAA ) as its major component , DAA is resistance to oxidation. Alkaline saltof DPR is used as a emulsifier surfactant in Emulsion polymerization reaction. This reaction is used for poly styrene and styrene butadiene rubber preparation.DPR is prepared from gum rosin at high temperature, reaction is very slow and needs catalyst, common catalyst for this reaction is palladium-carbon. In this research different catalysts were used and analyzed the products.
