خلاصه مقاله:
Effects of butted regions presence on shear and tension stress in adhesive layer for a stepped-lap joint under tensile load are investigated. Both analytical and numerical solution are presented. In analytical solution, to obtain shear stress field in adhesive, the differential equation of longitudinal force for one of the adherends is solved by using boundary conditions. Analytical results are compared with resulted data by finite element method. A phenolic adhesive bonds a graphite-epoxy layer to a titanium adherend. The effects of adhesive thickness, material properties of adhesive, length of butted regions and presence of adhesive in just one region on shear stress and tension in adhesive in horizontal layer and vertical layer are studied. Results show that presence of adhesive in a butted region decreases shear stress in adhesive at that end. It is expressed that as length of a butted region increases, tension of its adhesive decreases.
