Abstract:
the main goal of this paper is to investigate the effect of Demand Dispatch (DD) approach on operation of smart hybrid energy systems. DD results not only Asset Optimization (AO), but also economic and environmental benefits. Thus, this study is going to solve some economic and environmental problems in conventional hybrid systems by using DD and some levels of power grid smartness. As stated in many papers, one of the major issues facing stand-alone PV/wind hybrid energy systems is the uncertainty associated with solar and wind power supply resources due to stochastic characteristics of solar radiation and wind speed. In order to meet the load in a more continuous and reliable manner, energy storage systems or conventional fossil-fuel generation units have been applied to autonomous hybrid energy systems. Many researches have been carried out on different aspects of hybrid energy systems such as performance evaluation, optimal sizing of resources, techno-economical optimization and cost-benefit analysis. This paper compares conventional operation of hybrid systems with DD operation method of smart hybrid systems. Simulations show that DD lessens required battery storage capacity and rated diesel capacity about 40% and 20% respectively, due to employing the existing assets like dispatchable loads in dispatching process
