Abstract:
In this paper a comprehensive approach towards complete ranking of distribution companies as decision making units (DMUs) is presented. The proposedapproach consisted of fuzzy c-means clustering (FCM), data envelopment analysis (DEA), and Anderson & Peterson (AP) model of DEA. First, FCM algorithm is applied to find similar DMUs and cluster them to different groups. Then, DEA and its AP model are implemented to assess efficiency scores of the DMUs in each cluster and rank them according to their relative efficiency scores. Furthermore, slack analysis to input and output variables is performed and values of slacks for inefficient DMUs are calculated so that an improvement occurred in their rank. The presented algorithm is implemented to rank Iran’s distribution companies as a realistic case study and its results are found to be encouraging
