Abstract:
In this paper a new method to update in real time the thermal model of underground cable installations is introduced. The objectives are to optimize the usage of underground installations and manage the emergency situations in a more efficient way by taking into account the thermal parameters ofthe surrounding environment at the operating point and/or thermal capacitances of different layers that are involved. The method uses the temperature along the cable route provided by the fiber optics in a Distributed Temperature Sensing system, DTS, together with the load variation as a function of time
