One of the main applications of remote sensing is recognizing and evaluating vegetation distribution patterns during different periods that can be resulted from analyzing andinterpreting satellite images. In this study, Landsat ETM+ 2002 image was applied for irrigated land area determination in one ofsub-watersheds of Hablehrood watershed whereas Independent Component Analysis and Tasseled Cap techniques were compared to each other. Independent Component Analysis technique extracts the higher-order statistical properties of multispectral images; such as skewness and kurtosis. TasseledCap is one of enhancement techniques which different bands in a multispectral image can be visualized as defining an Ndimensionalspace. The results of this study revealed that the Independent Component Analysis accuracy is higher than that of Tasseled Cap for irrigated land area estimation.
