Abstract:

Solar energy is a unique form of sustainable resource and is the source for all kinds of it. It’s said that Iran, with over 300 sunny days per year, is among the fortunate countries for solar energy usage. Due to consuming over a half of the energy provided by buildings, architects can have great share in lowering energy usage [1]. A large part of the future PV market will be associated with building applications, especially in cities like Tehran where the population density is high and the land is valuable [2]. Building-integrated PV (BIPV) systems provide building owners with a highly visible public expression of their environmental commitment. The aim of integrating PV systems into buildings is to reduce the requirement for land and the costs. There are large incentives for urban planners and architects to incorporate these techniques into their design. Architects therefore need to start thinking about this new Smart Solar Architecture [3].
