Abstract:

In general, the stability operation of each power system needs a balance between load and generation, and it should be designed in a way that to be robustness against the sudden increase of load. In this paper different methods are presented for frequency control in a island microgrid in the presence of wind turbine, and then these methods will be compared in terms of response speed, overshoot and undershoot values, and robustness against parameter variations. Theses control methods include using PID controllers with optimized parameters, and fuzzy logic controller with optimized membership parameters and functions. Using above methods, pitch angle in wind turbine side, and governor of generator diesel side controlled, and frequency keept in nominal value. All optimizations of this paper were performed by using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm, and its results were compared to Bee Colony Optimization (BCO) algorithm .
