Abstract:
Power line communication (PLC) is an emerging technology for multimedia, broadband Internet access and smart grid applications. In recent years, PLC hasemerged as a potential candidate for domestic high bit rate services. The current in-home PLC technology, based on Single-Input Single-Output (SISO) configuration, under achieves the capacity offered by the physical PLC channel. Recent technological developments led to multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications for In-home PLC networks. The in-home PLC offers multiple signal feed ports as, usually, it comprises of three wire: phase,neutral and protective earth. However, the development of PLC has been slowed down by the absence of a generally applicable channel model. The modeling of PLC channel is very challenge due to a number of reasons such as the harshness and diversity of power networks, and the difficulties in measurement. This paper present MIMO power line Communications Channel model for the inhome PLC system. MIMO methods significantly improvethe coverage of guaranteed data throughputs in private homes. The measurements and results presented in this paper demonstrate that up to ٨٨٪ enhancement in inhome PLC channel capacity is possible by using MIMO technique.
