Abstract:
The hybrid semi-active/passive damping technique as a combination of semi-active pulse-switching technique and PCLD (passive constrained layer damping) technique is a new effec-tive hybrid damping method for all frequency ranges. It compensates the drawbacks of semi-active (low damping in high frequency vibrations) and passive (low damping in low frequen-cy vibrations) methods and prepares significant damping in both low and high frequency ranges. Working temperature and excitation frequency are the environmental factors that af-fect on the viscoelastic damping behavior and consequently on the proposed hybrid method efficiency. In this paper study of the proposed technique under different excitation frequen-cies in a wide range of temperature variations, demonstrates significant damping, in spite of viscoelastic material characteristics dependence on environmental factors.
