Abstract:

Lutetium is one of the rare chemicals that can be found in houses, in equipment such as color televisions, fluorescent lamps, energy-saving lamps and glasses. In addition, lutetium is dumped in the environment in many different places. It can also enter the environment, i.e. when household equipments are thrown away, they may be washed with rain water and their leachate would enter underground waters, rivers and lakes. In this work, for the first time, we introduce a highly selective and sensitive lutetium (111) micro-sensor. This sensor exhibits a Nernstian response for Lu (111) ions over a particular concentration range (1.0 x 10"'-1.0 x 10'M~) with a slope of 20.5 k 0.2 mV decade". The detection limit is 3.0 x 10"' M while the sensor presents a response time of <10 s and a usehl working pH range of4.0-10.5.
